Biblical Meaning of Shotgun in Dreams

If you have read my previous article, Biblical Meaning of Handguns in Dreams, then you should have an idea of what a gun symbolizes in a dream. If you have not, I recommend reading that first, then come back to this one, because I went into a lot more details in that article.

Disclaimer: I am not a pro dream interpreter, I am still in the school of the Holy Spirit but from what I have been taught, I think it is only fair that I help those who might be struggling to interpret their own dreams.

Meaning of shotgun in Dreams

Recently, I had the 'privilege' of dreaming of a shot gun for the first time ever. Not something to be excited about because we know what guns represent in a dream.

Every type of gun in a dream has different meanings, similar to how every type of gun in our waking life has it's varying uses.

A shot gun, unlike a handgun, is used for shooting moving targets, which is the reason it is widely used for hunting. Not only that, it also does a lot more damage than a handgun.

I dreamt that I was walking up the road outside of my house and a car pulled up and a man quickly stepped out and pointed a shotgun at me. This man, whilst pointing the shotgun at me, told me to go back inside the house and do something. When I got back to the house and was on the car porch, the shotgun that this man had turned into a handgun.

When a shot gun is pointed at you, it usually indicates something in your waking life that is aimed at getting you to return to your old ways. This could be an old way of thinking, an old way of doing things, an old environment, it all depends on the context of the dream.

A shotgun is a way of saying, 'stop doing God's will' whereas a handgun says, 'don't do God's will'.

For instance, if you are the only one in your family to go to university and you have a dream, where you are walking to class and someone walks up and points a shotgun at you, that signifies something or someone that is trying to prevent you from becoming the first graduate in your family.

Always remember, context is always important. Pay attention to what is happening before the gun appears. What were doing? and what did you do after?

Our dreams are God's way of revealing to us things that we are blind to in our waking life. You do not have to go to your future blind.
